In Kuala Lumpur

6/6/11
Didn't do much just packed spent as much as I could so I would leave the country with as little Vietnam Dong as possible. Left for the airport a bit early but that was OK as there was free wifi there, when I found it finally.

7/6/11
Arrived at Changi Airport at about 00.10 which meant the trains had finished by the time I had gone through customs etc, not that there was much there one scanner and I guy who waved you towards it or not in my case.
I found the McDonald's at the airport, haven't court up with my other brother Ronald since south Thailand, and found out why Singapore kids are so far ahead when it comes to high school. There was at least 30 high school kids sitting at the McDonald's studying, and it's school holidays at the moment, you have to also realise they are there from about the last train till the first train, and apparently this happens at most 24hr McDonalds in Singapore, definitely not what I expected to see at 2am.
I found the airport exhibition was nice and quiet, although there where a few snorers there as there where probable 20 people sleeping in the area. So I locked my bags to the trolley and the trolley to a rail and slept on the floor till about 7am when I court the train into town.
Mainly spent the rest of the day sleeping and sorting out where I can get the phone sent to. Things are a lot more expensive here, especially beer so may have to give up drinking for a while, mmm we will see how that goes.

8/6/11
Wandered around a bit and immediately noticed that no one smiles here, must be a money thing the more you have the less happy you are, as it is the same in NZ, UK, and Aussie in fact all first world countries I've been to no body smile at you. I did get to talk to some one though a lady who was having her lunch break and she said sorry for Singapore a few time, it turns out other than the helpful people at the airport info desk she is the only one who spoke to me in 4 days.
The Internet has proved to be a pain, it says on the sg@m1.net site that you can get free Internet in the city area, when you register you find out you need a local phone number, but wait it says if you have a foreign phone number you can still register at the airport information desk or at the other end of the train line in some business estate. So off to the airport I go, after a long discussion with customer support (the helpful ladies at the airport where very understanding) I found out that it's all bollocks the best you can get is 4-6 hrs, but it takes and 1hr to 2 to get the train to the airport and back. So back to the hotel which has free Wifi (router) and the network is still not connected to the Internet (it wasn't for 4 days but they did have Wifi (router) turned on so no money back).

9/6/11 till 11/6/11
Went to the movies court buses around town saw lots of people looking sad, even scowling at me if I smiled at them, I've been in Vietnam to long too use to everyone smiling at you and saying hello, even if it is the only English word they know.
Final conclusion on Singapore, the airport is great and should be visited, it has won the best airport in the world title 18yrs in a row. The town is a place you go to shop and spend time in air conditioning, if you go to the movies take a jumper the air con is set to about 16C so I froze.
I'm sorry lady I meet if you read this but that is the best I can say.
Oh on the last night a waiter smiled at me, it was a special moment I will always remember, I shouldn't have spilt some beer on my pants.

12/6/11
Left the hotel early so see if I could get on the lunch time or over night train, which I couldn't, so headed back to Queen St bus depot where the bus leaves for Malaysia, it takes a while by bus, I recommend the train as they have customs and passport control for both countries in the station.
The Singapore side was easy but the Malaysian side was about a 3-4hr queue, very loose use of the word queue, 3,000 people trying to get into 18 rows of passport control. But once through all was sweet free Internet again as soon as off the bus, people smiling, it's nice to be back in the developing world. Also there where bum guns again, man I don't know how I will handle home again, I had to hold on at the movies because there was no bum gun until I got back to the hotel so I could have a shower after, I just feel so dirty if I don't wash it anymore, paper is for long dead Chinese emperors not my bum.
Stayed at the bus stop in Jahor Bahru till midnight when the bus left for Kuala Lumpur.
