The first Three legs of Riding the World

16/10/12

Rode down to Clacton to see Caroline, where are you Caroline I cannot find you and you are not answering your phone?
out side the travel lodge you live above Caroline...

17/10/12 to 23/10/12

I park up the bike at Micheal's having forgotten how soft his front yard is. So the stand sank into the ground and the bike ended up safely resting on the wall. I got some cardbord to put under the stand until i drank my beer and got something better. Unfortunately i didn't have the beer before it had rained for a while, making the cardboard soft. So down went the bike again this time braking the front screen off the bike but nothing else. She wasn't in the best of states at the end anyway.

24/10/12 and on
 In Goa relaxing....

So I suppose a summary is in order.

Leg 1 South East Asia

Bike: Suzuki GN125 called Gracie

Little Gracie was a lovely little bike.

Cost: $500US in Ho Chi Minh City Sold: $200US in Hanoi

Insurance: $3US for a 12month Vietnam insurance. I only had to present documents at borders and to 1 police man and the insurance was not questioned. Yes the insurance would not work if there was an accident but it is valid enough to show the police.

Countries: Vietnam, Cambodia, Thailand, Laos

Kilometers: 6,200km About that as no speedo so used google maps to work it out.

Leg 1.1 Holiday in Indonesia, Malaysia, and Sri Lanka

Bikes: Rentals 2 scooters and a Pulsar 135
Some scooter on Penang Malaysia, cannot remember what it is.
Pulsar 135, not bad for a rental and i did get to ride with everything on the bike.

Cost: About $15US a day

Insurance: Rentals so covered

Kilometers: 1,759km, Total 7,959km

Leg 2 India, Nepal

Bike: Hero Honda Karizma 225 called Mule
The name Mule even though given in Goa where true on this day. Some of the tracks where made for Mules

Cost: $800US in Chennai Sold: Well given to Welsh man I meet in Nepal.

Insurance: $9US for 12month India insurance, was only looked at at the border.

Countries: India and Nepal

Kilometers: 15,000km, Total 22,959km

Leg 3 UK, Ireland, and Northern Europe

Bike: Yamaha Fazer 600 called Thoralen

Thoralen did a wonderful job, Have to show the midnight sun in Nord Kapp

Cost: $1400US in London Sold: Hasn't yet

Insurance: $370US for 12months, it still wouldn't have covered me but it did keep the police happy. Only ever showed them when getting Tax for the bike. Got a $90US refund when I cancelled the policy.

Countries: England, France, Belgium, Netherlands, Germany, Denmark, Sweden, Norway, Finland, Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania, Poland, Luxembourg, Wales, Ireland, Scotland.

Kilometers: 22,000km, Total 44,959km

So 25 countries, 44,959km and about $50,000US later I've got to see a little taste of the world. Now I need to get some more money together so I can head over to South American, hehehe come on Leg 4

Enjoy YOUR Life
